Our Bespoke Hats
All our hats are hand made using traditional millinery techniques.
Hat making is not a quick process, to give an idea of why here are the steps
Each hat is created using a blocking technique or sometimes free form.
The fabric used may need to be dyed to match an outfit or accessories and trimmings may need to be ordered in.
The straw or felt needs to be set on a block to keep the hats shape, it is then wired, trimmed and often lined which is all hand sewn so is not a speedy process. To create some of the decorations takes time as they are built up in layers.
Bespoke hats can take up to 4 weeks to create, so we can offer the best service please give us plenty of notice for the creation.
Feather Halo
Plumes of feathers with the addition of coque feathers for height. Any colour combination can be used and different longer feathers can be added for height.
Halo
Straw halo covered in burgundy vintage straw braid and adorned with cream feather flowers and metallic leaves. Halos are a popular modern alternative, different colours and accessories can be used.
Fascinator
Beautiful feather and bead fascinator on a comb in cream and coral with seed pearl sprays. Small fascinators can elevate an outfit for any occasion.
Swirl Lily
Voluminous crinoline hat with lily feather flowers and sparkling crystals. Coque feathers elevate the hat and provide movement, the design is light and elegant to wear.
Sinemay Straw Hat
Sinamay (straw) hat layered with pleated headband. Traditional styles are available in different styles, crowns and brims can be created, any colour combinations.
Small Hat
Silk covered small based hat with hand made flowers. These style hats can be worn either side and usually on a headband.
Fine Straw Boater
Fine Straw Boater in dual colours with a silk abaca band and bow. Any colour combination is available.
Organdie Elegance
Button style hat with dyed apple green cotton organdie covering and decorative roses. This style material is very sheer and elegant.
BESPOKE OR CUSTOM HATS
All our hats are made to order and will be unique to you. Even though some styles are replicated, they will always be original due to the natural nature of the materials used. If you are attending the same event as another customer I will not make a similar design to save any embarrassment.
